The short version
Guardian collects nothing. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The only personal information we hold is what you type into one of our two forms, and it arrives as an email in our inbox.
The longer version below says the same thing with the detail that POPIA (South Africa) and the GDPR (for visitors in the UK and EU) require.
Who is responsible
Obsessed Productions PTY Ltd, registration number K2025175630, of 46 Winkle Way, Sunset Beach, Cape Town, South Africa, is the responsible party (and data controller) for the information described here. Reach us at info@obsessed-productions.com.
What Guardian collects
Nothing. Guardian builds its catalogue as a file on your own Mac. It has no account, no sign-in and no cloud component. It does not send us your file names, your folder structure, your previews or your contents, and it contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind.
When Guardian checks for an update it requests a small file from our website, the same way a browser requests a page. That request carries no identifier for you or your machine.
What this website collects
No cookies. No analytics. No tracking pixels. No third-party scripts. There is no consent banner here because there is nothing to consent to.
Two forms send us information, and only when you choose to submit them:
- The contact form, which asks for your name, email address and a description of your project, and optionally your company and budget range.
- The Guardian waitlist, which asks for your email address and nothing else.
Both are delivered to us as email and kept in our mailbox. We use them to reply to you, and in the case of the waitlist to tell you once when Guardian is ready and what it costs. We do not sell them, rent them or pass them to anyone for marketing.
Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps ordinary server logs which may include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to build any profile of you.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who act as Merchant of Record. They collect the billing details needed to take payment and to charge the correct tax, and they are the responsible party for that information. We receive the order and the email address needed to issue your licence. We never see or store your card details.
Why we may lawfully hold it
- To answer you. If you write to us, we hold what you sent for as long as it takes to have that conversation and keep a sensible record of it.
- Because you asked us to. Joining the waitlist is consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying and asking to come off.
- To fulfil a purchase. Issuing a licence and supporting it is performance of our contract with you.
How long we keep it
Waitlist addresses are kept until Guardian launches and the announcement has gone out, or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first. Enquiries are kept while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our holding it. Write to info@obsessed-productions.com and we will act on it. We do not charge for this.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator in South Africa, or to your own supervisory authority if you are in the UK or EU.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you.
