Who we are
This site and the software sold through it are operated by Obsessed Productions PTY Ltd, registration number K2025175630, trading as Obsessed, of 46 Winkle Way, Sunset Beach, Cape Town, South Africa. You can reach us at info@obsessed-productions.com.
By buying or using our software you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the software.
What you are buying
Guardian is a macOS application that catalogues the contents of your storage drives so they stay searchable and browsable while those drives are disconnected. It is sold as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.
Your purchase grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Guardian for your own personal or business purposes. A licence covers the machines you personally use. It does not cover redistribution, resale, or deployment across an organisation on a single key.
What you may not do
- Resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the software or your licence key.
- Share your licence key publicly or with people outside your household or business.
- Attempt to circumvent, disable or reverse engineer the licensing system, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.
- Remove or alter any notices of ownership in the software.
Orders and payment
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd. Paddle.com Market Ltd is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. They handle all billing enquiries, taxes and refunds, and they are the seller on your receipt. We never receive or store your card details.
Prices are shown before you pay and may vary by country. Any applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated and collected by Paddle.com Market Ltd at checkout.
Delivery
Guardian is delivered as a download, together with a licence key sent by email to the address used at checkout. If your key does not arrive, contact guardian@obsessed-productions.com and we will resend it.
Updates
Guardian updates itself. Updates released during the ordinary life of the version you bought are included at no further cost. We do not promise updates indefinitely: if we ever release a major paid version, we will say so plainly before you are asked to pay anything.
Refunds
We offer a 30 day refund, no questions asked. The full terms are set out in our Refund Policy.
Your data
Guardian keeps its catalogue on your own machine. It has no account, no cloud component and no telemetry, and it does not transmit your file names or contents anywhere. What we do hold, and why, is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Warranties and liability
We make Guardian carefully and use it ourselves every day, but software is supplied as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or free from defects, or that it will meet a particular requirement of yours.
Guardian is a catalogue, not a backup tool. It records what is on your drives. It does not copy, protect or restore your files, and it is not a substitute for a backup. You remain responsible for backing up your own data.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of your use of the software is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published here at the time of your purchase is the one that applies to that purchase.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction. If you buy as a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under the mandatory law of your own country.
